I am hoping to join a Social and Pleasure Club

I have met the coolest people when riding in Ubers in New Orleans. To wit, the other day I got a ride from ‘Big Shot Jeffery’ who extended to me an invitation that I never thought that I would see. He invited me to come down to the Zulu Social and Pleasure club and have a drink with himself and the members.

I don’t know if I had ever been more excited in my life. On top of all of this, I really need human contact. I was a person who lived in New York city and went into downtown offices everyday for more than 15 years. I went to music shows, drag shows, happy hour, early morning golf, and every other thing that people wanted to do. Now its been years of work from home and social distancing, and I moved to a more rural location in North Carolina, and I was getting lonely and weird.

This social club is just what I needed. They were immediately inviting, a guy named Buckjump Dennis immediately gave me his number to text and invited me to this months big picnic in the park near my house. He also went on to say that he felt confident that I could ride a float in carnival.

Although that sounds magical, I am even more encouraged by the events to give back to the community. They do bike drives for kids, back to school supplies, Thanksgiving turkeys and more for the local community. More than everything I am excited to have a place near home where everybody knows my name. I’ll update y’all here on more events from the social club.
